NO HANDS Massage involves the therapist delivering safe touch using soft, yet strong, parts of their body, like the soft fleshy part of the forearm. Pressure is applied carefully to compress and release the clients tense muscles. NO HANDS massage has recently been added to the treatments offered at Thrive. A NO HANDS treatment brings intense release from tension, aids relaxation and can benefit the whole body. Treatments can be adapted to the individual to work on different body areas as needed.
Drift away on a warm couch and feel the tension and stress leave your muscles as the relaxing massage strokes flow over your back, neck and shoulders. Choose two additional areas to be worked on, either your scalp and face or arms and hands. Using organic sunflower oil, or an aromatherapy blend of your choice, your skin will feel moisturised and supple. Although pressure will be applied according to your preference, holistic massage tends to have relaxation and stress reduction as the main goal, and therefore typically includes lighter touch to be more soothing and calming.

Drift away on a warm couch to gentle music and enjoy the sensation as you feel the tension leave your muscles and the soothing massage strokes flow over your back, neck, shoulders, scalp, face, arms, hands, legs and feet. This massage can be fully tailored to your needs, for example if you don’t want to have your feet massaged but would like more time spent on your shoulders, I can focus on, or avoid specific areas. This holistic style of massage is generally suited to those wishing to deeply relax. Although pressure will be adjusted to your comfort and increased in problem areas, the techniques involved are naturally lighter and more soothing than deep tissue therapeutic massage. An individually designed treatment to target your specific areas of tension, muscle pain and stress. After consultation and assessment I will recommend a treatment plan based on deep tissue massage movements, which use more intense and targeted pressure to target knots and tension in specific muscles. The treatment will leave you feeling de-stressed and with relief from pain caused by knotted and tense muscles. In order to relax the muscles fully and warm the tissues you can choose the option of receiving this treatment on a heated massage couch.
This hour long treatment will be specifically designed for you personally, to target your individual areas of tension, muscle pain and stress. After consultation and assessment I will recommend a treatment plan based on deep tissue massage movements, which use more intense and targeted pressure to target knots and tension in specific muscles. The more intense movements and techniques may leave your muscles feeling like they have had a workout, but this will quickly give way to deep relaxation and pain relief. This treatment will target body areas according to your individual requirements, so no two treatments will be the same. To increase circulation and warm the tissues you can choose to receive your treatment on a heated massage couch. Select a complimentary herbal tea from my large range to take home and enjoy after your treatment, in order to enhance detoxification and relaxation.
This deluxe treatment is a combination of the deeply relaxing holistic full body massage with deep tissue therapeutic massage included to target your problem areas of muscular pain and tension. Upon arrival, sit and enjoy a warming neck and shoulder wheat wrap to begin to warm and stimulate blood flow to tense muscles, while we discuss your goals for treatment and your specific areas of tension. A 75 minute full body massage on a heated couch will then follow, gently easing tension from your back, neck, shoulders, scalp, face, arms, hands, legs and feet with soothing, relaxing movements. Typically, the longer treatment enables additional focus on the back, neck and shoulders - areas where most people tend to carry stress and tension. Deeper tissue massage techniques will be used to focus on any knots and tension in these areas. However, as this treatment is personal to you, I can focus more time on your specific areas of tension. Using organic sunflower oil, or an aromatherapy blend of your choice, your skin will feel moisturised and supple. Indian head massage is based on traditional techniques, which have been practised in India for over 4,000 years and are connected with the ancient system of medicine, known as ‘Ayurveda’, meaning the ‘science of life and longevity’. Originally focussing on the head only, the practice of Indian head massage has evolved to include the upper back and shoulders, neck, face, shoulders and arms, which are areas associated with tension in modern lifestyles. The treatment is incredibly soothing, nurturing and calming and will leave your whole body feeling relaxed and revitalised. Indian head massage may be particularly beneficial if you suffer from headaches, migraines, sinus congestion or eyestrain. The massage can be performed sitting or laying down, fully clothed or with a special sarong towel to expose neck and shoulders and can be performed with or without oil. I will discuss options and recommend a style of treatment to suit you at the time you book your appointment. Great for anyone who needs a pick me up for their tired legs, perhaps after standing for long periods at work, or to aid recovery from running, walking, cycling or other sports training. This 30 minute treatment includes both relaxing massage strokes and more intense deep tissue work, to improve circulation and help eliminate toxins from the muscles. During your treatment you can choose to relax back on the heated couch, drifting away to soothing music whilst enjoying massage strokes that concentrate entirely on the legs and feet to leave you with a spring in your step! Please note, if you are training hard for a sporting event you may prefer to choose the 60 minute deep tissue treatment, which uses more intense deep tissue movements and can be performed entirely on the legs to aid recovery and complement your training. Please contact me if you are unsure which treatment would suit you.

Please visit the FAQ section of my website where I have more information on benefits of massage and pregnancy and the support system I use. If you have experienced any pregnancy complications, or are considered a higher risk pregnancy, please bring a letter from your midwife confirming that they are happy for you to receive massage. The ‘hands on’ massage time will never be less than 45 minutes but may be slightly longer, up to an hour, depending on stage of pregnancy, complexity of consultation and whether this is your first pregnancy treatment at Thrive. The longer overall appointment time allows for an unhurried appointment, with plenty of time to relax, and to ensure your comfort using specialist supports and pillows when changing positions.
